What do the passengers think about route 55?

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

After two years of intensive cooperation, the successful start of regular operations and an advertising campaign that nobody in Gothenburg could have missed, the most important question remains: what do the passengers think about the new route 55?

At Sven Hultins Plats we meet up with Roger Nordman, who has just had his first ride on route 55, from Brunnsparken to his place of work in Johanneberg.

“I was curious about the electric bus and wanted to see how it works. It was great to ride in – quiet, smooth and stable, although it wasn’t entirely silent. Fun – and wonderful that Gothenburg is investing in this technology!”

Daniel Simonson and Mathias Olsson are headed in the opposite direction. They are on their way to Frihamnen and the Volvo Ocean Race, where they get off at a bus stop that for this particular week has been specially designed to replicate an authentic library.

“The electric bus is smart and fresh inside and quieter than regular buses,” says Mathias.

“I felt it was a bit less jerky too, although that may be because of the driver,” adds Daniel.

Both agree that Gothenburg’s drive toward electrified public transport is just the ticket.

“All buses operating in the city should be electric. That’s something that it is worth paying extra for.”

Before setting off back to the city centre, the bus quickly fills up with passengers – there’s no standing room on board.

At Brunnsparken Nicole Möller and her sons Jonathan and Samuel get off. They are on their way home to Västra Frölunda after visiting the Volvo Ocean Race. This is their first ride on the electric bus.

“The new electric buses are quieter and they’re also better for the environment and nature,” say Nicole and Jonathan. Little brother Samuel also enjoyed the ride.

“What was great was that the bus didn’t rattle so much. What wasn’t great was that so many people were on the bus, it was really packed.”
