Continue to collaborate for future opportunities

Never has collaboration been as important as it is now. Various measures are currently being taken to support the Swedish economy and mitigate the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak. Within the innovation system, we can contribute by continuing to look ahead. "We need to find and establish new ways and forms to quickly get the pace up once the situation has stabilized," says Tord Hermansson, CEO of Lindholmen Science Park.
EU commissioner visited ElectriCity

ElectriCity continues to draw a lot of interest. Last week EU commissioner Margrethe Vestager, responsible for digitalisation and working on the "Europe fit for the digital age" program, came for a visit. The theme of the day was "Technology with a purpose". The commissioner got to see new technology being tested out in the real world through ElectriCity and a tour on the electric bus on route 55.
ABB and Transdev join ElectriCity

The ElectriCity collaboration is expanding. When Transdev and ABB now are becoming members, the number of partners increases to 16, new competence is added and the opportunities for future work and tests also receive a substantial contribution.
Unique demonstration of autonomous bus

The potential an autonomous bus can have in a bus depot was demonstrated on November 12 by Volvo Buses and Keolis. An electric and autonomous bus then drove itself between different stations a bus needs to visit in the depot between the shifts. The demonstration is one of the first in the world and represents an important step on the road to more autonomous vehicles as well as safer, cleaner and more efficient public transport.
Europe's largest order of electric buses to Gothenburg

Another 157 electric buses will be operating in the Gothenburg area. The order of the buses is the single largest in Europe and the partners of this deal are Transdev and Volvo. The addition of more electric buses will mean a quieter and cleaner urban environment for the citizens of Gothenburg.
Elvy - Västtrafik's first electric hybrid ferry

On October 25, Elvy, Västtrafik's new electric hybrid ferry was christened. The ferry is expected to reduce both fuel consumption and emissions of nitric oxide and particles and is a first step for more electric ferries on the river, something that ElectriCity is also working on.
One in a million on line 55

‘I'm one in a million’ is the message at the back of some of the ElectriCity buses on line 55 in Gothenburg. The message highlights that the buses on line 55 are some of the one million connected vehicles from the Volvo Group, which now rolls around the world.
More electric buses in Gothenburg

Västtrafik is taking new steps in the transition to fully electric public transport. On 2 October they launched the first of a total of 30 new electric buses in Gothenburg. The new buses will operate on line 60. In addition, another 160 buses will be coming to the city next year and the goal is that within ten years all public transport in Western Sweden will be electric.

Västtrafik's work on electrifying public transport in Gothenburg and West Sweden was recognized during UITP's World Congress in Stockholm in June. As part of the campaign "Redefining public transport", Västtrafik has made a film showing how electrified traffic transforms the city and people's everyday lives.
160 new electric buses in the Gothenburg area

Next year, Västtrafik starts driving 160 electric buses in Gothenburg, Mölndal and Partille. It is clear since Västtrafik completed its procurement of public transport in the metropolitan area. The investment means that Västtrafik will be the leader in Sweden with regard to electric buses.
